Environmentally friendly water-based adhesives and hot melt adhesives should become the development direction of adhesives

In recent years, hot melt adhesive equipment such as hot melt glue stick extruders in China has developed rapidly. The reason is of course that environmentally friendly water-based adhesives and hot melt adhesives have become the development direction of adhesives. Environmentally friendly water-based adhesives use water as a solvent, and hot melt adhesives are not used as solid adhesives. Solvents theoretically solve the fundamental problem of "toxicity".

The solvent-free reactive polyester hot melt adhesive is crosslinked by moisture or heat to achieve better bonding strength. As a high-performance environmentally friendly adhesive, hot melt adhesive is a key technology developed by the national “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”.

Compared with solvent-based polyurethane glue, water-based polyurethane adhesive has no solvent odor, non-toxic, no pollution, easy to clean residual glue, high solid content, safe and convenient to carry. In the 1990s, environmental regulations in Europe and the United States became increasingly stringent, and waterborne polyurethane adhesives were industrialized.

In recent years, the news that is not conducive to the export of China's footwear, such as the detection of azo, phthalic acid and other chemical substances in the EU, has become a powerful weapon for the EU to resist Chinese footwear products. In Europe and the United States, not only the VOC content of footwear products is tested, but also the residue of the storage space of shoes is detected, which is objectively a technical barrier for footwear exports. Of course, the comprehensive performance requirements for the production of water-based glue are high, such as requiring a solid content of more than 50%, resistance to hydrolysis, and the like.

In view of the fact that environmentally-friendly water-based glue has not yet become mainstream, Ba Li Chemical Vice-President Li Ruiyang believes that cost is not a problem, the key is the awareness of shoe manufacturers. Li Ruiyang analyzed that solvent-based glue is 80%-85% solvent, the effective solid content is not more than 20%, and the water-based cementing content is more than 50%, which is three times that of solvent-based glue. The market price of water-based glue is about 2 to 2.5 times that of solvent glue. In addition, water-based glue is not only expensive, but also relatively cheaper.
